Toho's 27th Godzilla movie stars three of the most popular monsters together for the first time. Having been damaged in the previous battle against Godzilla, Mechagodzilla is now being repaired in the maintenance dock at the JXSDF (Japan Counter-Xenomorph Self Defense Force) base in Hachioji. Meanwhile, Chujo, the engineer in charge and his uncle Shin-ichi are visited by the twin Mothra fairies who warn them that unless the Japanese government stops using Mechagodzilla as a weapon, they can forget about Mothra helping them the next time Godzilla attacks. The twins did this out of loyalty to Shin-ichi who saved their lives 43 years ago. As predicted, Godzilla eventually shows up in Tokyo, and the Self Defense Force wants to ambush it using (you guessed right) Mechagodzilla. Then Mothra shows up out of the blue and the repaired Mechagodzilla is soon ready to join the battle. The bonus disc contains the making of special FX, recording sessions with composer Michiru Oshima, unused optical effect cuts, and more. |
