SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Sword In The Moon |
Two Former comrades find each other on opposite sides of a conflict involving the myserious murders of high-placed officials in this sweeping, historical epic set in 17th century Korea. The film opens some 30 years after the Confucian state was rocked by an attempted Japanese invasion; in the aftermath of this conflict, an elite band of Imperial guards is established to protect the status quo. The two top warriors, Yun and Choi- sworm brothers until death- find themselvers separated by unexpected circumstances, and are forced to turn on each other when events conspire to pit them as enemies. Years later, a serious of strange murders involving officials of the government transpires and Yun is put in charge of the investigation. The trail leads him inexorably back toward his former comrade, now aided by a mysterious young woman whose prowess with a sword rivals that of the two enemy warriors. Gorgeously shot, and boasting the kind of balletic fight scens that made Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon such a visceral delight, this engrossing swashbuckler provides action and intrigue in equal measure. |
