Starring Shu Qi, Liu Ye and Fang Bin, the film revolves around a Chinese intellectual woman Yip Sing-yu (Shu Qi) who lives in the hardship of the Cultural Revolution decade. She runs into an intellectual Lau Se-mong (Liu Ye) she cannot forget in her life. Committing herself with a boyfriend (Fang Bin) since small, she faces political pressure of all sorts and has to halt the relationship with the one she truly falls for.
