SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Spring Subway |
Jian Bin (Geng Le) is sacked for three months already, but he cannot bring himself to break the news to Xiao Hui (Xu Jinglei), his wife and college sweetheart who has been living with him for seven years. Though his savings account is dwindling away quickly, he continues to hide the truth by pretending to trudge off to work every morning, clad in suit and tie, toting an attache case. He kills time by literally traveling in circles around the subway. En route he observes other love affairs and quests of the heart, as strangers on the train go about their own little emotional odysseys. Meanwhile, both Jian Bin and Xiao Hui are engaged in seemingly innocent flings, the former with a kindergarten teacher injured in a gas explosion, the latter flirting with sympathetic bar owner Lao Hu (Zhang Yang). Whether this seven-year old marriage will come to an end eventually, or whether the dulled passion of this Beijing couple will be rekindled as a result, all depends on where the spring subway is leading them. |
