SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Letter from the Mountain |
Based on the novel of the same title by Keishi Nagi (Akutagawa Award winning author). Directed by Takashi Koizumi (''Ame Agaru / After the Rain''). Michiko, a renowned medical practitioner experiences anxiety attack, while her husband Takao, an award-winning writer, is experiencing writer's block. The couple decides to abandon their life in the city and move on to the country side. The film generates a strange feeling of nostalgia through the change of seasons and the festivals that take place in each season. Through it all, the couple experiences transformation. It stars a veteran 91 year old actress, with a cast familiar to Akira Kurosawa films, plus up and rising actors. Music by Takashi Kako |
