SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Shikijitsu |
Directed by Hideaki Anno of ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' fame, the film is based upon the novel by actress Ayako Fujitani who started writing it at age 17 and finished at age 19. The movie details the 32 strange days following a disillusioned filmmaker's encounter with a lonely young girl who repeats a daily ritual of her own, living a day before her ''birthday'' forever. The filmmaker is played by real-life director Shunji Iwai (''Swallowtail & Butterfly,'' ''Love Letter''), and the heroine (the nameless girl) is played by the book's author Ayako Fujitani (''Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe'') herself. Their thoughts are narratedby popular voice actress Megumi Hayashibara and playwright Suzuki Matsuo. |
