Hiroko Watanabe (Miho Nakayama) lives in Kobe. Her fiance, Itsuki Fujii, was tragically killed in a mouintaineering accident. One day, Hiroko finds Hitsuki's old school yearbook, from the time he lived in Otaru, Hokkaido. She finds an address in the book. She writes a letter and sends it to that address. A letter sent to heaven perhaps?Itsuki Fujii (also played by Miho Nakayama) lives in Otaru. She receives the letter a few days later saying, "Dear Itsuki Fujii, how are you? I am fine. Hiroko Watanabe." Itsuki is slightly disturbed by the letter, but decides to write back and Hiroko is astonished when she receives a reply. She discusses it with Shigeru Akiba (Etsushi Toyokawa), Itsuki's ex-mountaineering partner, who has harboured thoughts of marrying Hiroko after her fiance's passing. However, Itsuki's memory serves as a barrier between them. Hiroko discovers that the letter is from her fiance's classmate and namesake - a woman.
