Social worker Sandy (Olivia Cheng) emigrated to USA with her father when she was young. Although she was very committed to her job, she still felt socially discriminated as a Chinese. She decided to come back to Hong Kong. Sandy worked in a girls' home in Hong Kong, and she was confronted with four problematic cases. Mildred (Loletta Lee), the daughter of a millionaire, injured her father's girlfriend accidentally and was convicted. Jane (Irene Wan) was put in the girl's home because she ran away from her family many times. Kam (Fennie Yuen) and her good friend, Smart Ass (Chan Ka Ling) were young prostitutes. Sandy was friendly to all of them and was accepted as a friend. Sandy discovered that Kam's mother was in fact her mother and Kam is her step-sister.
