He enlists the help of inner city youngster Smokey(Nicholas Tse). Smokey's mother is a prostitute who wanders around Temple Street awaiting the return of her child's father, a man she has met only once, but who she remembers to be a policeman. In a case of history repeating itself, Smokey falls for a pretty lady cop. In time, Leopard and Smokey develop a father-son relationship, he becomes the sonless father to his fatherless son. The movie exudes a nostalgic charm, particularly in the flashbacks, depicting the young Leopard that his older self (now memory impaired) tries to recollect through the one remaining clue, the unfinished cigarette. Eric Tsang gives a credible performance as the triad enforcer on his last legs, reminiscent of his role in Comrades, Almost A Love Story. Nicholas Tse, his real-life rebellious persona in stride, is well cast as the lost, streetsmart youth. Although Shu Qi only appears briefly, she delivers some breathtaking performances.
