"The Ring", a cross between a thriller and an episode of the "X Files", is a film about the mysterious deaths of several students at a well known Japanese high school, all dead within a week of watching a VHS cassette and hearing the phone ring at midnight. REIKO, a programme director with a broadcast station is assigned to investigate the story. REIKO has a personal interest in finding out what happened as her relative, TOMOKO had died after watching the tape. The only way to find the truth is to watch the tape herself. REIKO ropes in her boyfriend to watch it with her. She then decides to do a little digging at a villa at Itsu, which appears in the cassette. Together, they discover the truth behind the curse on the tape and that their lives will be in jeopardy unless they can find someone else to watch the tape within seven days... |
