SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - The Private Eyes
The Hui brothers hit 1970's comedy is a humorous depiction of working-class life in Hong Kong. $$ID=Michael Hui$$ (also writer/director) plays the quintessential unappreciative "boss" of a private investigation agency, a bumbling Inspector Clouseau-type. $$ID=Samuel Hui$$ plays one of his much exploited underlings - hamming up the Bruce Lee histrionics who eventually overtakes his boss in solving a big robbery case. Coupled with the film's colloquially inflected theme song, a paean to the working class the film with its slapstick humour has become something of a 1970's classic, which has spawned many much imitated gags. Hilarious!
