SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Mr. Vampire
Master Yam's deceased father, who incurred the enmity of a Feng Shui master, whilst alive, is buried on inauspicious grounds causing a decline in the family's fortunes. A Feng Shui master advises Master Yam to remove the coffin to a more auspiscious location. Master Yam employs Taoist monk Uncle Nine ( Lam Cheng Ying ) to perform the task. Uncle Nine discovers that the corpse remains intact and suggests temporary holding at a crematorium ahead of a full burial ceremony.
Unexpectedly, the corpse comes to life, attacking and killing Master Yam and Uncle Nine is framed for the murder and imprisoned. His apprentices Autumn ( Chin Siu Ho ) and Fortune ( Ricky Hui ) are left to battle the fearsome vampire. At the same time, Master Yam's daughter (Moon Lee) attracts the amorous police chief who competes with Autumn for her affections at the expense of the entire village.
Mr. Vampire is a pioneer of the Chinese vampire flick genre. The results are a mixed bag of tricks with elements of Kung Fu, Feng Shui, slapstick and black comedy, definitely worth the price of admission.
