A little girl scavenges among the corpses splayed on a battlefield. An older boy of the nobility proposes that if she agrees to be his slave, he will give her a few morsels of food. The little girl accepts, but breaks the promise immediately and flees with the food to find her mother. Running in the darkness, the girl encounters a beautiful Sorceress. 'Do you so wish to become a princess whom men the world over will desire? There is a price, you will never experience true love or genuine happiness. Do you accept?' 'I accept.' replies the girl.

Meanwhile, the Mighty General dons his brightly colored red armor, richly embroidered with floral patterns and prepares for a fierce battle that may result in his first ever defeat. Incredibly, a recently indentured Young Slave is instrumental in the outcome of the battle. Thanks to the Young Slave's remarkable talent for 'outrunning the wind'; the General is once again victorious. As his troops celebrate, word comes of treachery in the Imperial City. The Mighty General must return immediately to save the King from an enemy invader. He orders the Young Slave to accompany him, but while traveling through a dark forest, the two men become mysteriously separated. The Sorceress appears before the General, unfurls the Map of Destiny showing a man in the General's armor killing the King. The General does not believe in the power of fate, and with a laugh he draws his sword and points it at the Sorceress as she vanishes.
