SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Sengoku Jieitai 1549 [DTS] |
A Toho remake of the 1979 Sonny Chiba sci-fi adventure film also called GI Samurai. The actual translation is Sengoku Self-Defense 1549, or something along those lines. Anyway, the story never fails to elicit a chuckle, as we follow a squad of Japanese soldiers who somehow get transported to the 16th century in the middle of the Sengoku warring clan period of Japan. Political manuevering ensues and I hope we witness Oda Nobunaga get his hand on a rocket launcher or something. Either way, judging by the trailer, lots of explosions seem to be in this remake directed by Masaaki Tedsuka, which gets me to wonder how exactly the samurai will be threatening to the number of tanks the soldiers had transported along with them. |
