SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Heaven's Bookstore [Special Edition] |
A beautifully woven stylization of the interplay between the living, the dead and others who are allowed to exist somewhere in between. Director Tetsuo Shinohara develops the complex, romantic notion that the dead are permitted to live a 100 years in 'heaven'. Communication between the realms is carried out by intermediaries, so that heavenly and earthly creatures can achieve healing and closure. Against this backdrop, a struggling pianist is helped by a long-deceased virtuoso, who in turn is finally given peace when mortals puzzle together the shards of her great, tragic romance. This film concerns itself with the struggles of its many and varied characters, the detail of each life and how they interconnect.
