SYNOPSIS / Editorial Review about - Spring Song |
Most probably the first Hong Kong film to depict college life, Spring Song succeeds in conveying a sense of what youth is like. Teenage idols Grace Chang and Jeanette Lin Cui played competitive university freshmen fighting against each other for almost anything: fame, recognition, and, of course, guys, who were played by Cathay heart-throbs Peter Chen Hou and Roy Chiao. The film might have been influenced by Gidget, the forerunner of Hollywood teenage films that starred Sandra Dee. A star vehicle to further establish the popularity of Chang and Lin, it also displays their various abilities in singing, dancing, archery, water skiing, riding and ball games. |
